Eileen’s by Steve Barringer

We had the most amazing evening at Eileen’s by Steve Barringer. From the moment we arrived the service was warm, attentive and friendly, and the food was simply exceptional. The seven-course tasting menu was perfectly balanced – every dish had its own standout flavours. The Cheese & Onion tart was rich yet delicate, the Stone Bass beautifully cooked with such freshness, and the Venison full of depth. The desserts were the perfect finale – the Blackberry with warm brown butter madeleine was stunning, and the Dark Chocolate dessert was indulgent perfection. A huge thank you to Steve and the whole team for making it such a memorable night – and for the thoughtful touch of the Disaronno to finish 🥂. Ampthill is lucky to have such a gem of a restaurant. Highly recommended!

Nowt to fault here. From entrance to exit the service was impecable. The food however was flawless. The food was delightful, every course. You can often tell an establishment when things go slightly wrong… we had a slightly corked wine.. this was replaced instantly with apology. 5 stars without doubt.

Absolutely amazing meal at Eileen’s. Opted for the 7 course taster menu, every dish tasted incredible, full of flavour and texture. It’s extremely challenging to pick a favourite dish as they were all beautifully cooked and well thought out. The truffle and cheese lasagna was out of this world. The service matched the food. Staff were extremely attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Can’t fault the food, wine or staff.

I visited for the first time last night to try the November menu with my family. The staff were all super friendly, highly professional and very attentive. The food was absolutely incredible, such delicious dishes with an expertly selected wine pairing, which I would highly recommend. The only improvement I would suggest, is perhaps printing out a copy of the wines used in the pairings. I often found it difficult to hear all the information provided by the staff when the wine was delivered, due to noise from other tables. So having a copy of the names and flavours would be super helpful. Overall I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend Eileen’s. I will definitely be visiting again and am excited to try a different selection of dishes and wines. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Birthday treat for my soul mate last night at Eileen's. The food was sublime! The wine pairing was spot on and service was exceptional! The background music was eclectic and wonderful too! I am already dropping heavy hints that I want to come back for my birthday treat! A memorable and special dining experience!

Had the September five course menu. Thoroughly enjoyed every meal. The beef dish was the best, best bit of beef I've ever eaten. I needed some dietary changes to a couple of courses which was no problem. It was nice that the chef Steve brought out some of the meals. I didn't find the restaurant particularly cosy and the staff lacked some knowledge of the food, but we went for the food and that was definitely 5 star. I liked that there was no service charge auto applied. We will go again for the new menu.

My boyfriend and I came here last night for dinner. The staff were so friendly and attentive and the food was incredible. Every dish is so carefully thought out - all the different flavours and textures, it was just spectacular. They also gave us a card to say happy anniversary which was a lovely extra touch! Additionally they catered for my nut allergy without any issue (just told them in advance). We had a perfect evening - got the 7 courses (which included the most amazing bread and whipped butter and mince pie muffins to finish) but were absolutely stuffed so would go for the 5 courses next time.

Amazing meal this Saturday. Very friendly staff and Steve came out to introduce and chat about several of the courses. We kept arguing about which were our favourite dishes all through the meal. (It was the duck for me, but plenty of “wow” moments, and not a single dish below “amazing”) Please keep up the amazing food. We’ll be back soon. Recommended!
