Minnis Bay Bar & Brasserie

Fine for drinks but nothing more…. I wanted to love this place, convenient location and the terrace overlooking the bay is lovely, especially before sunset. For drinks after a walk along the bay I’d recommend, for food I’d avoid. Service lacks - slow and not friendly, toilets also in poor shape. Food was disappointing - bland or covered in sauce, some dishes badly cooked (with some prawns in the linguine actually coming out raw which ruined my partners meal, though I had a nice bit of fish), a lot of the menu out of stock, and on top of that the kitchen taking a ridiculously long time despite little covers. Note we ate dinner inside and had drinks on the terrace, you can also order food (no table service) outside.

Great dinner! Staff was efficient all night on a Saturday. Food was a little slow but worth the wait! Came during sunset - great choice!

I’ve visited a few times now and each time has been just ok. This time the venue was ideally located for us which is why we booked. Upon arriving we waited about 10 minutes to be taken to our table despite it appearing quiet in the restaurant and us having pre-booked. Service was initially quick but it took a while to place our dessert order and then later request the bill. The food was pleasant but I particularly enjoyed my pudding which was delicious. Although we booked for six people only five of us could make it. The service charge was automatically added to our bill, which is done for a table of six or more, but the fact there were five of us had not been taken into account.

Lovely view and great place to meet some dogs! We ordered some traditional fish & chips and a sea bass fillet. The fish was fresh, full of flavour, and nicely cooked. The cod didn't have too much batter and the sea bass was juicy and not overcooked. We had to wait ages to get our order however and I think in total it took about 75 minutes from sitting down to eating, despite us being ready to order straight away. The view is pretty lovely facing the seaside.

The worst place for food. We live nearby and would love this place to be amazing. We try it week in week out and will no longer eat there. If you want over priced drinks and the best view in Kent then it’s perfect.

The venue is great, and the staff are extremely friendly. Our visit on a Sunday we were only looking for a didn’t and a small bite and had seen on their menu they did sandwiches. We were informed they did not do this on weekends, so the next bed thing was a Caesar salad with chicken. This took 40 mins to arrive which meant we ended up spending longer here than we anticipated. Food is quite pricey, but still good value for what you get. The portions were good. We did return later for a drink and was severed immediately at the bar. Service score reduced purely for the delay, which seemed a lot for a salad. That said the staff were helpful and friendly beyond this.

I would have given 3.5 stars as 3 is a bit unfair. The place is right on minnis Bay and has lovely views. We went for two separate evenings and both evenings the service was pretty much the same, slightly lacking. Also went for lunch and ordered the prawns which had everything on, there was no dipping sauce as the sauce had been poured over the shells and no finger bowl, which I feel if you have these sorts of prawns on the menu you should provide a bowl for fingers. The staff are friendly and welcoming and our table was ready when we arrived. They gave menus and took drinks orders promptly, however on both occasions they neglected to provide the children's menus. They came over to take orders and a couple of my party had decided to go for something only to be told it isn't available, this should be advised as soon as you are seated along with any specials they may have. The food is nice but could be better, and always felt lacking of something. The removal of the dinner plates was slow and they had brought out the children's desserts before they had cleared anything away. Making the table feel overly messy. Overall nice place with great views but as I said lacking in final touches in service and in food prep.

Booked for a birthday meal at 5pm , got there to be told only 4 items left on the menu 2 were vegetarian, apparently been busy & sold out but looking at the reviews this is a regular thing , maybe stock up more!! ended up at the smugglers & wow got us booked in last minute & couldn't of wished for better food & service so turned out good in the end , we're not at all local but the taxi man said we'd definitely be better off going smugglers says it all ! Beautiful location but looks like it's getting run down , such a shame as reviews from a year ago looked decent
