Visited on a Sunday at 1700. Very quiet. Food was quite tasty. Maybe too much veggies in the Lamb stir fry. Had quite a lot of crispy chicken pieces. Service was excellent. Would be great to have a jug of cold water on the table. Maybe even a step by step guide for the use of chopsticks for those who don’t know. The atmosphere was great. A very comfortable and pleasant meal! The toilets were immaculate! We were impressed with the crystal drinking glasses! Thank you so much :)

An absolutely stunning restaurant with wonderful food. The staff were lovely and checked in on us continuously. The whole menu is brilliant - such a variety.

Utterly brilliant. Don’t bother going to one of the ‘upmarket’ Chinese restaurants in Harborne, where you will pay twice as much for pretty standard Chinese food served on a fancy plate. Kangxi delivers truly delicious, fresh and exciting food at a decent price and in an authentic setting. The staff are really pleasant. You will not be disappointed.

was genuinely shocked by how we were treated here. We were given buffet menus at the table, but my partner is vegan and the options were extremely limited for her. I still wanted to have the buffet, but the owner told me—quite bluntly—that I would have to sit separately, on my own, if I wanted it. Frankly, I found this not only rude but insulting. You cannot speak to people of a high calibre in that manner and expect it to be acceptable. We came to dine together, not be separated like schoolchildren. It felt like the owner was insinuating I might share my buffet with my partner — which I found offensive, especially considering she’s vegan and wouldn’t have touched any of it regardless. The way it was handled lacked all tact, professionalism, and basic hospitality. We left feeling deeply uncomfortable and unwelcome. I would not recommend this place, especially to anyone expecting decent treatment or respect for dietary needs.

Our usual Chinese restaurant was closed, so we decided to try something new. Since The Kangxi Imperial had great reviews and was nearby, we gave it a go for delivery. If I could go back in time and stop myself from ordering, I absolutely would. I ordered the king prawn fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. While the chicken was quite good, the rice was essentially just boiled rice with food colouring and two king prawns—hardly what I expected. Another item in our order was crispy fried chicken, which, despite no mention of sauce on the menu, came with sweet and sour sauce and was anything but crispy. The logic behind that choice was lost on me. Then there’s the price—we paid a shockingly high amount, about £40 more than our usual spot. Given the rave reviews, we assumed it would be worth it. Spoiler alert: it was not. The food was mediocre at best, and the pricing felt extortionate for the quality we received. Maybe they were just having a bad night, but if my usual place is ever closed again, I’ll simply eat in instead.

We frequently visit this restaurant to collect takeaway, and sometimes we opt for delivery. The staff are always incredibly friendly and welcoming, greeting customers with a smile whether you’re dining in or picking up an order. The value for money is excellent, especially considering the generous portions and consistently high-quality food. Every meal we’ve had here has been delicious and reliably good. Keep up the great work! We always look forward to our next meal from here.

Far and away the best "buffet" Chinese restaurant I've visited. Their usp is that rather than the "help yourself" type buffet, everything is cooked freshly. Order your food, eat that, order again etc. The menu is extensive and varied, in both starters and mains. Excellent service, licenced (which was an unexpected bonus) polite and knowledgeable staff. Have already recommended to friends and family - 2 workmates have already booked. Cannot recommend highly enough. Quality.
