This is without a doubt the BEST Japanese restaurant I’ve ever been to in the UK! We were the first customers right at opening time (11:00 AM), and from the very first bite, everything completely blew us away. Every single dish we ordered was absolutely delicious—there wasn’t a single miss! The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and I still can’t believe we got to enjoy such high-quality Japanese food at such a reasonable price. The fish was unbelievably fresh, and the grilled dishes were bursting with flavor. Every piece of meat was tender and perfectly cooked. And the caviar… wow! I could literally feel it popping in my mouth—so fresh, rich, and satisfying. You can really tell that the owner takes so much pride in what he does. He told us he’s been cooking Japanese cuisine for over 18 years, and his passion and experience truly come through in every dish. This place is easily the best value for money I’ve found anywhere. I’m seriously in love with this restaurant and will definitely come back the next time I’m in town. 100% recommended!

Had a fantastic lunch here. Nice clean and modern venue. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Menu has a great choice of Japanese food and drink. We had a selection of sushi and I had a couple of ashai lager to wash it down. Price is reasonable and worth the quality of food in my opinion. Very enjoyable.

Absolutely love this place! Though quite small and quiet inside, you’ll get some of the best sushi you’ve ever had at an affordable price. It was great to see the chef making each order and everything looked and tasted incredible. Feel like this place would benefit from mood lighting and more ambient music

We visited for a family meal for 4 celebrating a birthday with our daughters aged 14 and 8. I'd actually never had sushi before, though the rest of the family had. This restaurant was lovely. Very friendly service and delicious food. We had a mix of katsu , dumpling and miso soup appetizers and sushi and it all tasted really good. I'm a convert and will definitely be back.

Ikura is a wonderful authentic Japanese restaurant serving beautiful tasty food. Our waitress was knowledgeable, funny and very helpful and her attentivness was superb. My wife and two children (6yo + 8yo) will be back for sure. Thank you everyone at Ikura!

Love this place. Have been going regularly since they opened. Clean and inviting restaurant. Food is fresh and cooked / prepared to order. Great sushi, sashimi and katsu curry. Good selection of drinks. And great value for what you get, especially in this day and age. Right in the middle of town with lots of parking nearby. Thanks to Zayla for always welcoming us with a smile. See you all again soon!

Like others have expressed, this is the best japanese restaurant I've been to in the UK. The food is simply sublime. The place is very cosy with a limited number of tables, the atmosphere is relaxing, the personnel is very kind and welcoming and the food is over the charts tasty! They also have a wide selection of wines, alcoholic and non drinks including plum wine! Many vegetarian options, each and every one of them trully excellent. The pricing is very decent, especially considering the quality of the food. This place just became my favourite!

Honestly, it’s not our first time at Ikura, but I still haven’t taken many food photos because it’s so delicious! 😂 The owner is super friendly and accommodating. The lady at the front of the house is amazing; she knows even our regular order.😍 She’s a star ⭐️. The food is always fresh, tasty, and never takes long. It’s my favourite spot in Stortford.
