Staying in a hotel nearby and called in after being recommended by a lovely local shop worker . Wow , it was Tapas night , something the partner wouldn't go for normally, but we stayed and he is glad we did 😁 Absolutely Delicious , and a Big Thank especially to the lovely lady that looked after us ( especially while trying to explain the menu ) 😀 Beautiful pub with lovely staff . 100% Recommended

After expecting a meal at The Five Bells, we had a delicious Roast Dinner at the Lion instead due to a Chef shortage. The Lion is a lovely venue to eat, easy parking, lovely staff and very good food. Would have liked for Menu choices, but tha main and puddings were excellent thank you.

Me, my mum and husband all went here tonight for dinner. Lovely staff. Nice decor. Parking out the back. Seating outside. The food we all had was delishious. We had a hullumi gyros, steak burger and gammon. Very nice and good prices for food and alcohol 😊 £66 for three main meals and three alcoholic drinks.

The most disappointing roast dinner I have ever had in my life to celebrate a birthday in style. I would assume the chef quit, or they have employed a donkey to cook their sunday roasts using pork chops as pork belly and chicken breast as a roast chicken, which was clearly all microwaved. As all 3 of us had more than half a plate left at the end of the meal, we were asked if we wanted to box any of it up for the dog. We did ask the dog but she gagged and choked up a bit of vomit at the thought of it. Poor little thing. Half way through the meal we regretted not taking a photo for Rate My Plate on social media, however in hindsight it would probably be removed for causing distress to other social media users. Hopefully this place is taken over soon as it's a nice little place but I would rather eat my own face than go here again. Many thanks for the birthday memory though haha I will just add that the service was pleasant so apologies to the nice lady who served us but the food cast a shadow over the experience

We are seasoned Travellers. We have been in the country since last Saturday, 4 days now. Our experience here with dining out, has been anything but good. We have been eating out for every meal, and have been disappointed wherever we have eaten....except for The Lion. Not only were their burgers fantastic, the service was equally fantastic. We are from Cape Town and flavorful food is what we are used to, sadly, it's not common place everywhere in the World. Well done to The Lion, we will be back for breakfast, probably lunch and dinner. Keep up the great, friendly service...many can learn from you.

Amazing service, chef went above and beyond making me a gluten free pizza from scratch. Cheesy chips also were amazing. Thank you for a great visit!

We had the Lion on the radar for quite a while and eventually had a lunch break long enough to pop over and visit! We got there pretty much as soon as it opened, so no problems getting a table. The restaurant is quite nice looking, got a good feel about it. When getting to order there was a fair few items that were unavailable, but we settled on the fixed menu which seemed quite reasonable (£15 for two courses / £18 for three). Starters of Mushroom soup and Ham terrine - both really tasty. Mains were chicken burger for the wife (chicken was a bit on dry side) and burger for myself (which I ordered with Stilton but was told after ordering they had none!) The meal portion sizes were good, not too large or small. Over the course of our time, the restaurant got gradually busier - which was surprising for a midweek lunch! We would try this again at some point, and we thought it was fairly reasonable for what it was.
