Stop & Shop

This is not the best S&S, but it's OK. Clean and well organized. Staff are adequate. Produce, butcher shop and bakery selection could stand improvement. They need to make the hand baskets or the small carts available. This location is preferable to the one down on Whalley, which is busier and not as well maintained.

Normally, I don't usually have issues with this store. Today was an exception. I used the "quick scan gun" to do my shopping and went to the self checkout like I normally do. For some reason, the scan gun required an audit, which normally doesn't surprise me since this happens practically every other day that I shop here. Bryan, the attendant at self checkout, said he would take care of my transaction. He did this after taking care of another customer first who hit the call button AFTER I did. Then Bryan handled ANOTHER customer before finally getting to me. I missed my bus because of the delay. I would usually let this slide, but time was crucial today. I personally think staff here need to have some more retraining in "customer service." Just saying.

Came here during holiday weekend and I loved shopping here. Very organized, lanes move fast, and it is pretty stocked with fresh veggies and some locally sourced preserved food.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025 - on a visit to our area S&S on Amity Rd this afternoon ( noon-ish ) , we found it ; not clean , not vacuumed entry , and the 'smell' of marijuana was overwhelming , just horrible. the maintenance really needs attention. how you rid the store of the weed smell ? not sure , but it was nauseating . - I do remember when it was a clean location. we were happy that on new years day S&S was open ...

I used to work there I was hired in the produce department then without my knowledge transfered me to cleaning the store all because the took a full timer I got slashed 16 I even got an ultimatum either take the porter job or take being suspended by Mr Martinez miss the producewish i was still is there anyone i can talk to about that I need a response now I see on indeed. com they need help where the produce department why did they move me in the first place plus I filled out another application thought you're stored needed help

I live in a Senior Citizen Complex not to far from the Stop & Shop at 112 Amity Road. I always find the people working the floor when ever I ask where a certain item is the would take me directly to it with a smile on their faces.The cashier's are also friendly and helpful also. I purchase a money order from my rent every month and today Tuesday December 3rd I purchased a money order, got home and couldn't find it. Being retired on a fixed income, I panicked and returned to the store, praying that I left it on the counter and a good sermaritan might have found it and turned it in ,or hoping it still be laying on the counter. No such luck. But to my surprise a employee named Paris asked what time I bought the money order and after I told him he called upstairs and told them to check the video tape.To my surprise a gentleman who I didn't catch his name said I wasn't given the money order only the receipt by mistake. And praise the Good Lord for the caring and hard working people that when our of their for me ,and I received my money order with no problem and was on my way. Thanks again for going the extra mile for me .It was greatly appreciated. May the Good Lord continue to bless 🙌🏾 you all.

Ruth at the self service checkout has been the sweetest to us and our family. Always asking how our son is, always a smile on her face. Truly a pleasure to see her everytime we shop and makes our shopping experience wonderful! Thank you ‘Miss Ruth’!

They seem to hate people with mobility issues. The good door by the pharmacy and self checkout doesn't open until 8:00am, and they lock it early. This is inconvenient, especially for people with mobility issues. Cuz now I have to walk all the way to the other side twice, even if i am only getting my prescriptions, which sucks. And they got rid of the small carts like a year ago and got rid of the baskets like 2 months ago. Now i can only use the big heavy carts. They moved the cart return by the pharmacy exit down like 4 spots, so it's way farther away than it used to be. Otherwise, it's fine. Produce is okay. They keep adding prepackaged stuff that used to be available to buy just 1 or 2, like mushrooms and broccoli. They keep getting Driscoll's berries even though they have no flavor. The in-season local or local-ish produce is the best. They are often out of things. Especially sale priced meats and dairy. The sales are good prices. The regular priced items are more expensive than shoprite, Walmart, and BJ's. The store brand deli meats are good. The workers are pretty good. The store coupons are a nightmare. Half are on the app, the other half are spit out at you as you check out. Which means you can't just have one place to organize all your coupons, they have to be in two places, and then they get misplaced. And the digital ones can't be used more than once. It's annoying. The pharmacy is great. They are nice and helpful and try to accommodate whatever they can. The scanners are super convenient, but they are getting glitchy and need replacing.
