Went for a meal in the restaurant on Friday 7th Nov. The food was excellent and the service as good as ever. There was a good choice on the menu with some interesting specials. I am always impressed with the range of wines.. We are local and use the bar and restaurant regularly and are always pleased with our experiences. The staff are great and make the effort to get to know you and your preferences. Thank you!

Very friendly owners -went out of their way to make you feel welcome and wanted. Food quality was excellent. We both agreed that the dinner menu was imaginative and of a quality well above what most pubs offer. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. We can’t speak more highly of the warmth and general feel of this brilliant pub.We shall return home and recommend The Golden Lion to all our friends. Thank you for making our stay very special. We shall return as soon as time permits. It was the personalities of the owners and their staff that make this place a real find. Well done!

The Golden Lion is perfectly situated for stunning walks (along the river Tyne and Sycamore Gap to name a few). There are quaint shops/boutiques with a chemist and Co op. The rooms were comfortable clean and spacious with a large bathroom and comfy bed. |Pam Adrian Daniel & Lauren were the perfect hosts. We had a beautifully prepared cooked breakfast on both mornings with nothing amiss. The bar and dinning areas were spacious clean and cosy with a warm and friendly atmosphere making it also a hit with the locals. Looking forwards to our return in the new year and would recommend 💯. Thank you all for making our stay even more special.

Ideal location to explore the village. The rooms were spotless and very cosy with ample storage room and great views from the window. We booked for evening meal and breakfast and were not disappointed. Great choice of home made food alongside top notch service from the friendly staff who couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Quiet area and had a great nights sleep. Already booked for a return visit

The food was so delicious that we went in for lunch and dinner in the same day! The service was friendly, professional and attentive. Atmosphere in the restaurant and the pub was warm and welcoming and has been decorated beautifully. We’ll definitely be back again!

This was our first visit and we were really impressed. The staff were all very good, friendly and efficient. We arrived without a reservation and a dog, the staff did all that they could to help us, going out of their way to find us a table. The food was served with generous portions and delicious! We will definitely return to sample more of their tasty food.

Had a two night stay at this absolutely fabulous family run business. They welcomed us like we’d met many times before. The rooms are everything you need and very clean with new towels etc each day. The food menu is outstanding, and the breakfast a definite 10/10. |Can’t wait to go back.

The Golden Lion is a wonderful pub. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. I was shown to my room which was immaculate and on the top floor and very quiet( room 4) |The breakfast was superb, a good choice and freshly cooked and delicious .
