Oh dear, had two previous stays at The White Lion and both times it was great. This time it just didn't feel like the staff were on it!!. Checked in, given key card but room not cleaned or bed made. Returned from night out, popped into bar 10.50pm for night cap to be told bar had shut!! Bar on website states open until 11pm. Breakfast took an age to come, neighbouring table seated after us and had eaten their cereal and full cooked breakfast by the time ours arrived. When the breakfast came it was mediocre. Room was good, comfy bed, bathroom has everything you need but a clean around back of taps was needed. This is a beautiful old hotel but a little more thought is needed about how it is run and staffed.

My three navy mates stayed here first our navy mates 70th birthday party. We had lovely lunch and i had the PICANTE pizza which was delicious. The premises was clean and tidy and staff very friendly and eager to please. Accommodation was superb TOP RATE. BREAKFAST was scrumptious with lots to choose from I had the full English which was delicious. SUE AND PHOBE made us very welcome and if in the area again will stop here. £70 bed and breakfast which was brilliant. THANK YOU VERY MUCH

This lovely pub is my sister-in-law’s local, and we usually enjoy popping in for a drink when we visit her. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. On more than one occasion, a blonde girl behind the bar has been very rude — she completely ignored us, and even though she clearly saw us waiting to order, she chose to continue cleaning glasses rather than acknowledge us. It’s such a shame, as it’s a nice pub, but because of this repeated experience, we decided to go elsewhere

A great hotel with very nice, big, comfortable rooms, the bed in our room was huge, the biggest bed we have ever slept in and very comfortable too! Our room was lovely with everything you would need. The bathroom was very nice too with a great shower. Breakfast was included and was very good, plenty of choice and all very tasty. We also ate in the bar one evening and the food was very nice indeed, drinks, cocktails and beers were all lovely and the service was all very good.

I took my mum here for her birthday lunch and how upset was I when nothing was how it was described on the menu.|My mum chose this establishment specifically as she has always enjoyed the food (not this time)!!! We waited a long time for the order to be processed as did other customers, displayed by their facial expressions.|My order came totally wrong in respect of cheap cheese slices that hadn't even been grilled. On the menu it read grilled mozzarella with caramalised onion, this did not resemble anything like it. I also asked for medium steak, it came cremated which my mum wanted and hers was undercooked.|I sent it back and it appeared 2 minutes later, the same ciabbata with squashed mozzarella on.|I will not be returning, but worst of all felt I had let my mum down 😢

Booked into the hotel for an overnight stay, as going to a concert nearby. Needed to eat early, i.e. 5.00pm and pleased that restaurant and kitchen was able to accommodate us. Food really good, great choices of drink. Well worth a visit.

The service was ok, if a little slow taking our first drinks order when taking our food order. The food however, wasn’t pretty dire. A medley of vegetables that had obviously been microwaved, a frozen pie that was warmed up and flavourless potatoes and gravy. For the price, I would’ve expected the standard to be much higher. We won’t be coming back.
