Recently tried Don's Dock in Des Plains IL. Went for my absolute favorite open faced sandwich option, the Lobster Roll. Don's Dock really nailed the roll from the fluffy internal texture of a top sliced brioche bun, while properly toasting the sides with what tasted like a light butter crust. The Lobster claw meat was done in a classic cold salad, with a very light mayo dressing, these can sometimes be over done with too much mayo, but Don's Dock was just the right amount. The Lobster roll however is served with basic Lays Chips and overly creamy coleslaw, which takes away from the meal as a whole. The Bread Pudding was astoundingly delicious, served warm with a tasty brown sugar drizzle, easily the best Bread Pudding I've tasted in the Chicagoland area, followed by Smoque BBQ's Bread Pudding. Finally the Hush Puppies which were just okay, but I'm a sucker for any place that has them on the menu. Overall I highly recommend the Lobster Roll without the meal, paired with the Bread Pudding perfect for sharing as a dessert!! @FritznFood on Instagram

We had such a great experience here! The staff were so friendly and helpful and there were so many great choices. We love that you can dine in and also take to cook at home. The fish tacos were delicious and so hearty. We took scallops to make at home and the staff member helping us gave us really great tips for cooking them. They were amazing and we will definitely be back!

Ordered the lobster roll meal. It was good, but I was expecting it would be chunks of lobster meat but it was more pulled lobster meat with a claw. I felt they put too much green onions which was drowning the other flavors of the sandwich. That's why I gave it 4 stars. My boyfriend had the lobster and shrimp tacos meal which he said were really good. I'll definitely be back to try something else on the menu. The atmosphere is very casual. It's kinda like a deli shop where you take a number and you place your order when your number is called, get your food and seat yourself. There's limited seating but it seems like most patrons take it to go. The staff there were really nice and friendly. They do walk around to talk to you. It's a true family owned restaurant vibe. I really enjoyed my experience.

A neighborhood staple for many years, this family owned seafood market and eatery does not disappoint. We used to order from Dons Dock multiple times when we lived in the area so since we were in Des Plaines ,we decided to stop in for a late lunch. The staff is super friendly and their food is mainly homemade recipes. We ordered the Fish n Chips meal which came with fries and coleslaw. My wife had a small order of jambalaya since she is gluten free. The food is cooked while you wait and is brought to your table. As we were waiting there was a constant flow of customers. The food portions are perfect and everything tasted great just like we remembered. They must be doing something right since they have been open since 1951. Next time in the Des Plaines area, stop in for some fresh seafood ..you will be hooked!

My goal when I go out for my me lunch dates😁, I typically try new places, so that is how I stumbled upon this place. The people were really friendly but the food was not good at all. The soup lobster bisque was too thick. There was no lobster in it, and maybe 3 potato pieces. I also ordered hush puppies, the flavor was good but they were fried too hard.

Ordered the Walleye dinner fried and got little nuggets of Walleye. I've never had walleye that way. Other places always serve a giant fried fillet. Didn't really care for it this way. The fried batter was too hard and with the pieces so small I felt like all I was getting was batter. It took away from the flavor of the Walleye. I'm not a tarter sauce person. I love the flavor of the fish. Also ordered a quarter pound of oysters for a side and that was 3 oysters. Guess I should have ordered a half pound. In total for my son and I we paid $38 with no drinks. Coleslaw was awesome though.

Was here on a work trip and found don's dock through a local favorites subreddit. Tons of rave reviews about this beloved family owned seafood spot, and I was not disappointed! This place was so charming, amazing service, and fresh, delicious food. My coworkers and I split a fried calamari, they got dishes from the shrimp festival menu and I had the grilled scallops meal. We ate every last bite! To top it all off, we had a lovely chat with Therese who guided us through our first (but hopefully not last) experience. Genuinely going to try to book another work trip here just to visit again and try more off the menu!
