The Bildeston Crown

We had an evening meal and stayed the night. Check in and the rooms were lovely, really clean rooms, very comfortable and warm, great staff and no problem with being an hour early. We went to the bar in the afternoon which was OK but spoiled a bit by some loud shouty gents in one bar and some unruly screaming kids in the other bar. Not the hotels fault, but it happened. The evening meal was delicious, really really good. And service was excellent. The dining room is lovely, old fashioned as you would expect. Unfortunately again the meal was spoiled by a loud table close to us, drunken people showing off, they spoiled the evening for more tables than us. Breakfast was great, served efficiently and we enjoyed it

It was sheer luck that we chose the Crown, and we’re so glad we did. From the minute we arrived and found our comfy spacious bedroom, situated at the back of the building away from the busy road we knew it was a good choice. It was very peaceful. There was a super coffee machine, fresh milk and delicious shortbread, a comfy bed and spacious well equipped bathroom.|We ate on 3 out of the 4 nights that we stayed. ! And on every one of those we had absolutely delicious food, trying different things every night. Must mention the duck, cheese board and the chocolate mille feuille. |It’s very hard to pick out any individual staff member, it’s a young team and without exception they tried their best to make us comfortable and see to our every need. It’s always good to hear a manager say “we have a good team here”.|This isn’t a cheap place, but we felt that for the service, food and ambiance we had, it was definitely well worth the money.|This is a characterful hotel in a beautiful part of the country, run by a company that succeeds in giving its customers a memorable experience , so much so that it would be wonderful to visit again one day. Sunday lunch. Best I have ever has in a restaurant. Great little bar area and the service was 5 star. Amazing wine list and the spicy margaritas were delicious. Couldn’t rave enough about this charming place.

This is totally a top class pub, 16 century coach house and it is amazingly preserved and a real shinning jewel in this beautiful little village it is amazing, the food is priced as you would imagine in a top award winning pub, but that doesn't mean everything on the menu is expensive. If you want lobster and champagne you could get it but you will have to pay lobster and champagne prices. They do village nights burger and a pint at a reasonable price and lots of events and festivals. It is quite a formal looking place but apart from being called sir which I am not used to you don't feel out of place not being as smartly dressed as the staff. It has a huge outside space as well a few places to tuck into a patio bar and big beer garden. It has event space and rooms to stay in as well.I can't comment because I haven't used these but if they are anything like the pub and restaurant then I would imagine they are amazing. Be amazing for a special meal or a light lunch. Also just great to try the selection of beers from the local brewery and some good others on tap and bottled. Good wine selection. Friendly locals It really has everything.

Should have been lovely, but ruined by group of drunks who the hotel was more than happy to continue serving shots to. Booked a romantic night away with my partner for her birthday. Took our dog which, understandably, meant that we ate in the hotel bar. Hadn’t realised though that this was not some atmospheric countryside bar, but the sort of place that noisy, swearing, disruptive folk are also allowed. The hotel need to decide who they want as their customers because no way I’ll return here.

We stayed here overnight to celebrate our wedding anniversary on a sunday DBB package. Very good value.||Easy parking behind pub. Polite helpful check in, we were showed to our room and he carried my bag. ||Stayed in room 10. Very comfortable bed. Hot day but fan allowed us to sleep. Great large bathroom with big shower. || Drinks and food were excellent (we are fussy foodies). Service just right.||Negatives: room has coffee machine but no decaff, milk or creamer. Coffee machine water never hot enough to make tea-there were teabags but no kettle nor milk. Missed our tea in bed. No suggestion of room service. Shame as no complaints otherwise.

Beautiful location and building. Very clean and comfy rooms with all the amenities. The food was stunning and the entire team were friendly and helpful, from reception to bar to housekeeping, they were all helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again.

Stopped for lunch mid week, and the food was fabulous. Two courses beautifully presented. A talented chef for sure. We also caught the Tour of Britain cycle ride fight outside the pub which was an added bonus!
