MyUmami

We visited MyUmami for a family meal on a Friday night and it's easy to tell that it's popular - people who hadn't booked had to leave empty-bellied (although you can eat at the counter). There's a good reason for this popularity which is that the food is downright excellent. It's fresh, beautifully presented and absolutely bursting with flavour (apart from the boiled rice but how can you make that interesting?). We very much enjoyed our mixture of sushi and cooked dishes with the only caveat being that we didn't leave feeling quite full enough (and our budget couldn't quite stretch to another round of dishes). Apart from this, and the slightly slow service due to there being perhaps one less waiter than would be ideal, we all remarked on what an excellent meal we'd enjoyed at MyUmami. For a restaurant in a slightly unpromising location they're doing pretty much everything right.

Little gem in East Finchley. Incredible flavour and very good and fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is very cozy and relaxed for a casual dinner night. Can't wait to go back and try the other dishes on the menu.

Wow! This place was a surprise! Hidden gem, quality and level that I would expect from a central London restaurant. Still it was not pretentious or overly pricey. Great local venue with exciting and very tasty dishes. We definitely recommend it!

Great little hidden Gem. Been a few times - excellent cookery and vibrant flavours. I could literally eat a bucket of the Miso Aubergine. It’s small so book ahead. Recommend

Wonderful experience on all fronts! Great sushi and even greater sharing plates with some creative touches and fantastic ingredients. Friendly staff and very attentive service contributed to a great family dinner experience. Kids also really loved it. We’re so lucky to have such a fabulous spot at our door step!

The interior is cozy and modern, with just the right touch of style. Now onto the food – WOW. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor. The balance of umami in their dishes is spot on – rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying. the sushi was fresh and beautifully presented, Service was quick, and the staff were attentive without being overbearing. Prices are reasonable for the quality you're getting, and the portions are generous too. Definitely coming back soon and bringing friends with me. My Umami is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great food and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended

Booked at the bar on a Friday night - as all other tables were already booked - great sign in my opinion. Glad we did as we got to see some of the specialities made in front of us. Salmon set - fresh and high quality. Spicy tuna rolls delicious. Beef carpaccio - super tasty. Actually couldn’t fault the food. This is a small restaurant with minimal covers - and you can see the chefs are passionate about the Japanese fusion they are serving. Only been open for a few months - but can see it won’t take long before this becomes a favourite with many in the local area.
