Tataki

this was a new spot with lovely food and great service. the nepalese woman was lovely and unfortunately didnt get her name but she was really sweet and helped us. although the food isnt “authentic” like other reviews may argue about, it was still great tasting food, to the point that we even ordered twice. the seating downstairs was great and spacious and was really clean. altogether a perfect hidden spot. 🫶🏽

I had an incredible experience at Tataki near Aldgate East! The food was absolutely delicious it was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was attentive and friendly, and the staff especially prativa made me feel really welcome from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and relaxing — perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. Everything about this place was spot on. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Good service and ambience. They do a wide selection of things- we got the miso soup, takoyaki and squid rings to start which were quite good. We got the red dragon roll and green dragon roll for the sushi, both were great. We then got a chicken katsu donburi to share which was good too. Solid place to catch some East Asian food. Prices also reasonable.

1⭐ Review We came here because of the 4.9 Google rating, expecting authentic Japanese food. Sadly, it was a huge disappointment. Our family has over 30 years of experience with real Japanese cuisine — my mother had long-standing business connections with Japanese partners, and I’ve run a restaurant with a Japanese menu myself. Right away we saw the menu was not authentic: no Japanese tea options, but plenty of fried noodles and even Pad Thai. Out of hunger we gave it a try. The tempura came without daikon sauce, and almost every dish — even sushi — was drowned in the same seafood sauce. The dragon roll was deep-fried, which is absolutely not authentic. Everything lacked the refinement and balance you would expect from Japanese food. To make it worse, the restaurant played the same piece of background music on repeat — not Japanese, but a sad, heavy Chinese-style soundtrack more like a tragic drama scene. It felt strange and out of place. We are honestly shocked how this place received so many positive reviews and such a high score. It seems most reviewers have never experienced real Japanese cuisine. Very disappointed!

Staff were really attentive. Got a table downstairs right by the stairs so we could here footsteps coming up and down by our table throughout. They had a fan to get some air circulation but it made it feel a little weird. Food was very disappointing though. The karaage was alright but it was just standard fried chicken, nothing like a Japanese karaage we were expecting. The sushi rice however, was the greatest disappointment. It was overcooked and mushy, almost like rice porridge wrapped in seaweed. Sushi rice also did not taste seasoned at all. The duck in the crispy duck baos were also not crispy in the least bit. More chewy if anything but had good flavour. Overall it was alright, just disappointing.

Great Place. I absolutely loved my experience here. The atmosphere is wonderfully cozy and intimate, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. The food was very good across the board—fresh and expertly prepared. What really set this visit apart was the service: it was incredibly efficient and attentive. Combined with The Fork discount, this meal was an absolute steal. High quality Japanese cuisine at an unbeatable price! I'll definitely be back.

We had one beef ramen and one chicken ramen. It was really tasty. "Iqra" served us the food. She provided a great customer service. She was really amazing. Everything was perfect and food was halal. Thank you.

Had a wonderful evening at Tataki, amazing tasty food. Big portions and SO Scrumptious, service was excellent and Very attentive. Definitely recommend to friends and family. Thanks again for a great evening.
