Japan Deli

I wasn’t expecting to find Japanese Food this good in a row of shops (strip mall for any American readers) in South Manchester. My wife was somewhat dubious about eating here but when a restaurant proudly displays its Hygiene Certificate on its front door I was keen to plough on. Whilst the venue is not celubrious; I’m sure most of their business is takeaway, the food is excellent and served quickly The sushi was very good quality with soft, warm rice and it was obviously freshly made. They gyoza were pan-fried in a Japanese style and the prawn katsu was excellent too. I came here as I was visiting someone in the local hospital and this meal cost the same as three sandwiches in the hospital coffee shop

Me and my wife are asian tourists to Manchester. We're very happy to have found this spot. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food came at a reasonable time and the prices were very affordable which is a big plus to us after having explored a bit and seeing how expensive everything is. We were just in Japan the week before so I wouldn't say the katsu we had was necessarily absolutely 100% authentic, but it was definitely pretty authentic and suuuper delicious and had the correct essence. And it's dam sure really well made for a place so far from Japan. 10/10 we will probably be making this our go-to place during our stay here. The restaurant is quaint and cute but was able to seat everyone during lunch hours. Me and my wife had a lovely meal experience.

We recently visited Japan Deli on Wilmslow Road. While the food was just "okay" and could benefit from some improvements in terms of flavor, the service was absolutely excellent! The staff were attentive and made the whole experience pleasant. However, the drinks in the chiller were not as cold as expected, which was a minor disappointment. What we did enjoy was the option of sitting outside. There’s a nice outdoor seating area with tables and chairs where you can relax and enjoy your meal or drinks. Japan Deli has a lot of potential. Their dedication to authentic Japanese sushi is clear, and the attention to detail in their preparation is appreciated. They also offer great vegan and vegetarian sushi options, which is a plus. It’s a lovely spot for takeaway, and with a few improvements to the food and drinks, it could easily be a top spot in Didsbury, Manchester!

Unfortunately, I do not recommend this place, and am unlikely to return. The person who served us was polite and efficient, however the dishes were simply not good. The takoyaki had barely any octopus to be found, and was fried for a bit too long. The sushi was okay, though it didn't taste the freshest. The person I ate with got the vegetarian ramen, which tasted like it had been reheated from frozen and bland. The noodles were also of poor quality.

The sushi here is great, really tasty and good value, however the ramen I tried was a bit mid and bland Overall it’s a nice cosy, calm cafe to have lunch in and I would definitely return for sushi

Lovely place. Great service. Really friendly. Never really tried Japanese food before and this was just wonderful. I would 100% recommend the salmon and avacado roll with Japanese mayo, really nice. Not bad prices either.

First time going here, will definitely be going back! Ordered takeaway n got 2 bento boxes, 6 pieces of sushi, and 2 miso soups- it was all absolutely delicious! Not to mention a lovely owner (who somehow does it all by himself?!) and just a lovely place overall. Definitely on my recommend list for food in the area :)

I'm a big fan of Japanese food and to have a takeaway (you can sit in too) near where I work is a bonus. Very friendly and welcoming staff which I believe is both the manager and his wife. I ordered Bento lunchbox for £5.95 . I didn't know what to expect and imagined it to be a smaller portion of a main dish. This price is definitely cheaper than the nearby chain sandwiches or burger shops. When I took it back to my workplace (few minutes walk), the food was still piping hot. There were 4 deep fried pastries, katsu chicken, curry sauce and yakisoba with vegetables. Delicious! I was very pleased with the portion size and the tastiness of my lunch. Even happier that I was supporting a small local business. Highly recommended!
