Hushpuppies Catfish & Seafood Restaurant

I really hate to be that guy, so I am sorry but everyone at our table had a bad experience with the food. Service was good, I felt welcome and enjoyed the environment, but that food hurt me. One of our people ordered just a catfish, which was just hard to eat; this could be on us for not knowing what to expect, but it was basically just bones with a side of meat. Another ordered the crab cakes, which just weren’t yummy, but the étouffée I ordered was sour, the crayfish were brown, and it made me super sick… I mean, SUPER sick. We tipped well, none of this was the servers fault. The Okra was also extremely dry, and felt overcooked. But I’m no cook! Our server heaven was good, and we enjoyed the environment, but everyone left feeling gross. I hope this was just one unlucky experience, but it will likely be the last. If you are reading this… Jesus loves you so much that he died for you, rising from the grave so that we could have salvation in Him! Lean not on your own goodness, but lean on the perfectness of Jesus and ask him to save you from your sin!!! God bless.

I went a few years ago at the old location, I didn't enjoy it then. I just tried out the new location Sunday Aug. 17th, 2025. It was just before noon and they weren't real busy yet. Everything was perfect. The okra was light and crispy, beans were good with fresh onion, fish filets and whole fish was crispy on the outside, moist and fluffy on the inside. I'll be back.

My parents had been telling us for a while to come here when we come into town. We we made it and we were not disappointed...that is until we realized it was their very last day to be open! Wish we could have come back to try new dishes, but it was great either way! Amazing service for our big family. The drinks in giant Mason ball jars were fantastic!

My food came out barley warm. My daughter loved her crab legs but mines was cold and soggy. Even the fried okra was rubbery

I had the fried shrimp Po Boy and their chips. I loved it the shrimp was crispy and seasoned so well. The bread was soft and had a crispy crust. It was bigger than what I expected but so good. I will definitely be eatting here again.

Unfortunately we didn’t have good experience. No oysters available and no gumbo. My grandson ordered a baked potato and it came with absolutely nothing on it, not even butter. The texture of my fried shrimp and fish goo-ey and was served with no red sauce. Service was slow. This wasn’t the Hush Puppies I use to know and love - sorry. Please be better management - not to mention the cost was $80 for 3 of us and we were all unhappy. Sorry, just being honest.

This is not the Hushpuppy that I remember from a year or so back. My entire family drove 80 miles to eat because of the past memories of good food and good service at a fair price. I ordered the (All you can Eat) catfish meal with fried mushrooms as an appetizer. I was served the appetizer without small plates to cut them in half or to share the mushrooms with my spouse. I got three sides with my meal…… corn on the cob, pinto beans, and cole slaw. The sides were all good. The fish was like chewing tough rubber that has rested beneath a heat lamp for an extended time. Two members of my family failed to get their order until we were half finished with our meal (I’m not talking something odd….. a hamburger and a two piece fish dinner. They finally ask our waitress about their order and it came five or ten minutes later. The overall quality of food and service has diminished so much from what it use to be. May be poor management but they will continue to lose customers until some changes are made. Most likely we will not be back.

We went for all you can eat crawfish. It was $29.99 and came with corn and potatoes. We got our money's worth. The pound rate is $8.99. At one point, we had to wait for them to cook some more. The last few batches were not as flavorful since they didnt have time to soak, but at the table, they had Cajun seasoning we could add. Very, very good crawfish! Great service!!
